Chapter Four

Melloney didn’t know whether to dread the next day or to look forward to it, but when the afternoon rolled around and the coachman again stopped in front of the little house, she realized that she felt both dread and anticipation.

She thought she might know what would come next in her lessons. At least she knew what Edmund had done when he’d finished caressing her breasts. But she wasn’t exactly sure about undressing more than she had already done. Perhaps if her lessons involved that area down there, she should insist on being under the covers. Leeta met her with the usual smile, led her to the drawing room, and presented her with the usual glass of wine. Melloney thought that perhaps there was more in the glass this time. She sipped the wine. “Is Jack already here?”

“He is, honey. He’ll be waiting for ye as soon as we get the blindfold on.”

“Do you know what we’ll be doing today?”

“That’s fer Jack to say. He’s the teacher.”

Suddenly eager to get on with it, Melloney turned the glass up and drained it.

Five minutes later, she again sat in the chair beside the bed and allowed Leeta to tie the blindfold around her head. And a minute later, she heard Leeta leave the room and Jack enter it.

“How are ye today, milady?”

Despite the wine, Melloney’s mouth was dry and she realized she was more tense than usual. “I’m a little worried.”

“How so?”

“I may be a little afraid of what we might be doing.”

“Ah. Well, I’m hoping to teach you not to be afraid. That’s my job, ye know. To teach you that there’s nothing to be afraid of.”

“Jack?”

“Yes?”

“When you’re kissing me and touching my breasts, do you feel something too?”

“Well, shouldn’t my lessons include what a woman can do to a man to make him feel good also?”

“If ye want, we can do that, but it’s too soon yet.”

Melloney frowned. “I don’t understand.”
